Webmaster Admin Posts: 10,292 AdminI'm sure their is a good article at www.microsoft.com that describes it completely, but here goes from the top of my head:
NTFS 5 was introduced in Windows 2000. XP and 2003 use it as well, and Windows NT4 with SP4 or higher.
NTFS 5 includes the following features NTFS 4 doesn't:
- Sparse file support (ie. when a database server allocates a 4 GB file but it isn't completely filled with data it won't need the entire 4GB on disk either)
- Encrypted file system
- Reparse points
- Change journal
- Disk Quotas
I'm not sure if the list is complete, so I suggest trying a search at the MS site
