offline files

I was working on offline files recently, and noticed when I right clicked on a file or folder, the right click Menu did not have "make available ofline" or "synchronize" on it.
I have enabled "offline files" in windows explorer, and also disabled simple file sharing and also "fast user switching". I am using XP pro.
Is the reason that I am not getting a "make availabel offline" when I "right click" on a file or folder is because I am not part of a network ?
I am using a standalone xp pro computer with no network access at all. Can someone explain if a network is necessary in this case. Thanks
Ric

You would need to be accessing a share over a network connection. It makes sense if you think about it because there would be no point in making local files and folders available offline.
