UBCD, UBCD4Windows and... this might come as a shock but Knoppix! I have been able to successfully use Knoppix to read and restore data off of hard drives in the past that the Windows environment just couldn't read... -

I have and use everything mentioned so far. I suppose if I had to choose it would be hirens unless I am dealing with Windows Vista, then I use any Linux CD and a utility like gparted.
