Is that Swoopo auction sight real? does it work like ebay? or is it a scam website? The prices are so low their unbeleivable.

Its essentially like buying lottery tickets, but it makes people think they have control over it.

As evil as it is I think its brilliant. They make 4-5 times the price of the auctions in the bids, while the 'winner' gets a sweet deal.

Wow swoopo is a brilliant idea.

Ebay will definitely make an offspring of this, then CNBC will do a report on how Ebay is causing millions of people to lose millions of dollars.

I haven't heard of this previously, so I had to check it out. I was watching some blu-ray movie nearing auction end that kept getting bumped up and up and up and thus extended to 20 seconds remaining by the same 4 or 5 people. In my mind I kept saying "IDIOT! IDIOT! IDIOT!" every 16 seconds or so as the movie climbed to around $9 in price from $4ish.

Brilliant in terms of the concept, and perhaps a bit shady, but if people will be dumb enough to use it...

I think its no less shady as Casinos (which yes, are pretty shady!). The provide a service for people to have a chance to win something, just like a slow machine, funded by many people losing, just like a slot machine lol

You're not actually winning an item though. You're winning the ability to pay for an item at a particular price. At least with the slot machine if you win then you get your prize with no further money required.
