Hi, first, thanks for taking your time to read
In my lab I have a Windows 2003 server which is a dc\dns\dhcp\web server and I am trying to configure an intranet. My website has been succesfully hosted using iis and I can view the website throughout my network using the ip address, although the problem is that I am having issues configuring the dns.
I attempted to follow a tutorial that I found online (think it's against forum rules to post external links?) and so far have been unsuccessful. The tutorial talks about using host headers in iis although when I use host headers, my website is unsuccessful and doesn't work at all(doesn't even let me browse\preview it).
I would like my intranet domain name to be "intranet(http://intranet)" or something short and sweet (if possible). I can **** my way around it and rename the computer to intranet or I can edit the hosts file and forward intranet to the ip, although that's not so practical (although would work)
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance

It sounds like you just want to create a cname (an alias) for your server. Just open up the DNS console, go to your forward lookup zone and create a new cname. -
