need tp compress movie

i have movie 6GB Of size , i have to copy to DVD , but of course I Have to compress it first to make it fit for 1 DVD. I need to know what software I must use, or does vista have a capability to do compressing ?

Does your burner support dual-layer discs? You can get those at 8.5gb.

Something like http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html and possibly http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ (though I think that's a more advanced task with this) might be able to do it as wel.
