Good UNIX book
ITdude
Hi,
I am trying to catch up to speed on Solaris 10 flavor of Unix. Can anyone suggest a good basic book to start with?
Someone told me that Unix Visual Quick start guide 3rd edition by Eric Ray is very good. Any thoughts? Thanks

I have this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Certified-Administrator-Solaris-310-200-310-202/dp/0072229594/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1229990849&sr=8-2
I've just been tinkering around though. I don't know enough to say whether or not its good. I typically like their books though.

Thanks dynamik...I saw that at Barnes and Noble but I think that it might be a bit too soon to look at a narrowly focused certification guide. I wanted to get comfortable with Unix in general first.
However, it will be something to consider afterwards.
Thanks.

Whoops, sorry. I misunderstood your question.
Visual Quickstart books are usually pretty good.

Very profound signature, shednik!
dynamik thanks for the additional info....I heard the Unix in a nutshell was very good too but not as a primary guide. Thanks!
