IPv6 subnetting and summarization
hi networkers,
Are IPv6 subnetting and summarization included in the BSCI exam? In Chris Bryant's book it says that subnetting is out of the exam's scope. However, I encountered a scenario question about subnetting in Cisco Exam Guide.
any idea?

JavonR Member Posts: 245It appears it is not a topic according to the cisco exam objectives:
Implement IPv6- Describe IPv6 addressing operations.
- Describe IPv6 interoperation with IPv4.
- Describe, configure or verify OSPF routing with IPv6 addressing.

Slowhand Mod Posts: 5,161 ModIs your training material for the current (642-901) BSCI or the older 642-801 exam? I'm fairly sure that IPv6 wasn't on the old exam, but I've seen plenty about it in the fifth edition Cisco Press book which covers the latest exam topics.

If you follow the RFC scheme you basically will end up with 65536 subnets from each allocation an ISP will give you. The allocation from the ISP should be a /48 and the typical design using EUI-64 will use /64 on each subnet (why they decided on 64 bits for the host address will be something I will never agree with.)The only easy day was yesterday!
