which router is better for ccna. they are both pretty much the same price on ebay and both are modular

    As long as the 1720 comes with the power brick, for a home lab it's a toss up. If it doesn't come with the AC Power adapter, then you'd want to check the availability & pricing on those first before you bid.

    The 1720 doesn't do 802.1q trunking even though it has a 100Mb Ethernet port. The 1720 is also a "desk mount" rather than a rack mount router.

    The 2610 is more expandable, but only comes with a 10Mb Ethernet port.
