OS specific questions?

I just got done taking a transcender practice test for the security+ after going through a majority of testout and I recieved about 10 questions on unix commands. I even recieved a question on windows 2000 permissions. I was under the impression that comptia questions weren't vendor specific. Is it likely that I'll get unix questions on the real thing or is transcender just being retards?

I got a 76% on my first practice test. I felt I knew a lot of it but there were definetly some off the wall ones. I already know I need to study more on encryption types, certificate stuff, and specific threats like port scanning and their names but I'd also like any other tips or insights that any of you might have.

I'm not sitting for this one for about 2 weeks so no rush.

I found the Transcender test to be much harder than the real thing. The transcerder test actually went into the fields in a packet for certain applications. I have never seen that information in any of the books. I have posted a thread about it some where but I am too lazy (and it is late) to go look for it.

In general, I would use the test to learn that information but don't get overly concerned with questions that are outside of the expectations of the exam.

Yes you will get questions from various operating systems on the test. Comptia is vendor neutral because it does not just talk about windows or linux. It can have a question on both of them or just one of them, it really depends on what questions it pulls out of the pool.

Are you looking forward on the new version of S+ exam?

Don't worry too much about pwd cmd. Unix/Linux cmd is easy to notice and remember.
