DHCP-relay agent problem
Grogger4130
Hi, Im stuck on something I thought would be simple and hoping someone here will know what Im doing wrong.
I have a network set up so that theres 4 routers, all running OSPF going to switches with 8 vlans per switch, each vlan being its own subnet. One of the routers is a DHCP server and the terminals connected to the switch on that router are getting IP information without any issues. However when I try to set up a DHCP relay agent on the other routers it doesnt find the IP info. Ive set up the relay agents like this:
interface fa0/0.3
ip helper-address 172.16.253.2 (address of the serial port on the router running DHCP
default-router 172.16.40.1 (address of the fastethernet subinterface on the router for that vlan/subnet)
Is there anything obviously wrong with this setup?
Any help appreciated on this one, thanks, George.

I should add by the way that if i set up a terminal with a static ip to match the vlan it should be on, I can ping the DHCP server address fine.

Did you create a scope on the DHCP server for the new subnets that you have configured a relay agent?
