Specific tools on the CEH?

What are the specific tools that will require indepth knowledge for the CEH? I am not talking about the obscure tools which they mention a function and port number, but the tools which require at least a working knowledge of. From the official book it appears one would need to be versed in NMAP, NESSUS, Wireshark, and Snort.

Any input would be appreciated.

Those are the big ones that come to mind. I think it's mostly a common-sense approach. Learn the popular tools well and have a general understanding of the older/more obscure tools.

I remember a post quite a while ago where somebody broke down CEHv4 into five categories of tool types and specified the five tools in each category you should know for the exam. I don't know if that recommendation is accurate for CEHv5 or v6, but it'd be a start. I think that post was from keatron; he'd know better than anyone else here.

Yes ....try to understand the working and purpose of these tools. All other tools would be working on the same logic.
