SQL or Oracle??

I am thinking of getting into Database Administration and I was hoping to get some opinions on which route I should take. Oracle or SQL. Now I know that is kind of like asking Windows or Linux but I really know nothing of the DBA world so I am not sure what path would be more beneficial.
I hear that SQL is really starting to gain ground on Oracle that used to be the enterprise standard. Any truth to this?
I been playing with SQL 2005 virtual labs and I really enjoy what I have been doing. Is it even possible for a sys admin to make the jump to be a DBA by just self training alone or is this something I need to go back to school for?

I recently read an article that Oracle was 47% of the marketshare, IBM 21%, MS 17.4%
MS is gaining something like 28% of its existing marketshare per year though.
Gartner gives Oracle increased edge over IBM in database market
It'll probably be a few years before, if ever, when MS starts taking from Oracle.
I did the 70-431 cert because we are moving from IBM to MS and I wanted to get a head start on the administration and understand how we wanted to design it.
*this is a quote that I over-heard at a trade show.
