Aging / Scavenging of DNS records

I am a Technician in a school.
I've recently enabled the above on our servers as it was set to default (off).
Left it at 7 days for both. (14 days in effect to clear out old records)
A colleague of mine raised the issue: what happens in the holidays, when we are off for up to 6 weeks in the summer?
I would presume that all records would be re-generated by dynamic DNS when Pc's are started up.
Please confirm if this is the case.
