So in the past of using HP Procurve switches to set up SNMP I would simply enter the CLI Command "snmp-server host <IP> <community> Critical" this would send all critical traps to the SNMP server, primarily WhatsUp. Recently we discontinued use of whatsup and are testing out a Linux based freeware called Nagios. The SysAdmin is telling me he needs to manually enter the MIBs into Nagios that we want monitored. I've never bothered looking up what the 26000 different MIBs do exactly and am hoping there is a common list of HP and Cisco MIBs that we could implement as opposed to me having to research exactly what every single one of these does.
