IP Helper Address

Hi all

I recently changed a IP helper address on one of our switches to allow phones in a seperate vlan to get an IP address. My colleague is adament that the IP helper address needs to be set to the DHCP server, whereas I think that it just needs to be set to a server on the same vlan to allow the DHCP server to receive the broadcasts

Can someone clear up for me?

Thanks

Your colleague is correct -- it's the destination address for forwarding broadcast packets to.
