Passed with a 968!

Imagine my surprise when I got a friggin 968 on the 70-270! I thought going into the exam that I might have to use my second shot because I didn't feel completely ready even though I studied almost every day for close to 2 months. Transcenders were a life saver. There were so many questions that resembled the format of the practice questions that I used.

To prepare I used

Sybex 70-270 book
Transcenders 70-270 questions (got them in a bundle with an exam voucher from getcertify4less.com)
TechNotes and forum postings here.
Exam Cram 70-270 - study guide (I hand typed this from the book while sitting at Books a Million because i really didn't need the whole book)

For simulation I used the Sun xVM Virtual Box and used XP SP1 and 2 virtual machines along with a Server 2003 VM to simulate a domain environment.

You can simulate almost everything with virtualization and Virtual box is free!

On to 70-290 woo hoo!

Congratulations!

There's a lot of overlap between 270 and 290, so you're probably going to find that one a lot easier.
