My Prometric site is closing.

Got the following email today:

Dear Candidate,
This email is to advise you that your testing appointment scheduled with Prometric between 5/5/2009 and 6/4/2009 had to be cancelled at site due to the site permanently closing.

Awesome. My test was scheduled for May 7, so I actually got four whole business days of notice. It sounds like others had scheduled May 5, so they got two entire business days of notice!

How does a corporation not know any earlier than Friday, that they are going to have to close an entire site forever the next week? People do take off work and rearrange their schedules for these things.

I can simply reschedule at a different one of their locations, but it is twice as far. The silver lining is that the next closest location has Saturday appointments, so I will not have to schedule around work. However, they don't have any Saturday appointments available until June, so I guess I have more study time now. Oh well.

Of course I don't have the option to switch to a different test proctoring company, since Prometric now has the exclusive deal with Microsoft. I feel like complaining to Microsoft about this.

For the record, this was the testing center in downtown Seattle. There is now no Prometric testing center within the city limits, of SEATTLE. I think there are something like four or five in Bellevue, and one in Redmond but that one is on the Microsoft campus and for employees only.

You are not alone! happened to me too. I am in MEast region had to pay the amount in pounds, so when they cancelled it they refunded the money and I lost some on the exchange rate. For sometime there was only 1 testing center in the whole country and that testing center didn't offer anything on the weekend or evening. Finally there is another one now; hopefuly they will get another there soon as well.

Well there is always a reason why they close. I have seen a center closing on such a short notince because they have lost their license. If this is the case then there is obviously a reason so it might as well be a "good" thing as you never know.

On the other hand it is Microsoft / Prometric so it wouldn't surprise me if they are just being idiots ..

    Either way - it sucks .. icon_sad.gif

Okay, your story tops mine. I am a big whiner. :)
