ISCW Lab 3-9 v5.0 - SDM is timing out?

Hi, I'm trying to run this lab from the ISCW Lab portfolio:

ccnp2labv50pdf2adoberea.jpg

I was able to get SDM working before in a simpler lab (using same IOS) in which the host was connected to a router via the dyanamip emulated switch. However, this lab configuration is such that SDM is to connection to s0/0/0 in router HQ.

I setup HQ to allow SDM connection, added in all the route through loopback on my window host etc, but I'm getting stuck at this screen:

errormsg.jpg

So I'm pretty sure that I'm able to make a connection from SDM to 192.168.12.2, but somehow it is getting stuck. Anyone else able to do this lab and ran into (and hopefully solve) this issue?

Edit - I did a packet capture on the loopback and I do see the devices are trying to communicate. Attached packet capture for wireshark pros. :P

packet capture -> SDMtimeout.pcap

have you done any debugging on 192.168.12.2 or do any syslog messages appear on the console whilst you're trying to connect?

    Troubleshooting SSL

Secure HTTP (HTTPS) - Cisco Systems

does the same thing happen if you don't use https/ssl to connect via SDM?

Try changing web access to ip http server on 192.168.12.2

What happens if you try to SDM to the HQ2 router?

I've had little buggy things on dynamips like this

No syslog on router or any error message whatsoever in dynamips, telnet sessions are all active and fine.

'ip http server' is already enabled on 192.168.12.2 since you need to set that up for SDM access.

Never try on HQ2, but since they are running the same IOS image I dont think it'd make a difference.

Basically, since I can get SDM to work on another simpler setup, I'm wondering if it is a setup issue on my part or an issue on dynamips part.

yes but I mean have you tried removing the https access and changing it back to http?

In the packet trace the packets are being dropped / retransmitted during the sslv3 handshake

I had same problem on my PC at the home and on my Laptop after latest java update.
It work just fine before without any problem.
The problem was resolved by downgrade Java application version. :D

I'm trying to run this lab from the ISCW Lab portfolio:

The Lab Portfolios are from/for the Cisco Network Academy Courses.... but they are popular with people doing self-study who want to excel.

And you can get one for the other CCNP exam too....
