Packet Tracer WAN links..

verbalaverbala Member Posts: 17 ■□□□□□□□□□
Hey guys, I've got a quick question that relates to setting up WANs in Packet Tracer. So I've setup RIP to quickly link communication between 2 subs separated, obviously by 2 Routers. I can ping opposite hosts across the networks and everythings working well...... Except the WAN connection is still red. The links between pc, switch and router are green on one side and then the WAN link between the 2 networks is dun dun dunnnnnn RED! On the other side of the other net the PC connected to the router is green.

I'm just a little confused because both networks are communicating correctly and I can ping opposite hosts etc across the nets... but the WAN link lol!! Why is it red??? Is this abnormal or have others wondered this same thing? icon_scratch.gif

its always red dude, what you want to look out for is the green dots, if those turn red you're in trouble

Hey guys, I am preparing for CCNA exam. I have taken classes, I m watching CBT nuggets videos, I have limited access to labs. So, many times i need to use Packet Tracer. But i m not very good at using it. I have another doubt: how do I simulate an ISP in Packet Tracer? And also please give me tips as to how to prepare for the exam......

The CLOUD-PT have a few options to simulate frame-relay, DSL and coaxial.

Hi tomaifauchai, I am trying to simulate an ISP connected to a router in a network. The ISP has an IP address. How do I assign that using CLOUD-PT? And which cable should I use for the connection between the two? I have a diagram also but I am not able to understand how should I send it here?

Hey tomaifauchai, I have uploaded the network diagram. The ISP has to be connected to the router named CBT. Which link should I use? And also how do I configure ths IP address 68.110.171.97 in ISP?

Ok bro, so its like connecting to one of the routers in the ISP. Then I should use serial link in between.

In the diagram. I have done all the configurations, I have assigned the ip address. The link between the CBT router and the switch is showing green lights, so there is no problem with the link. But still I am not able to ping from CBT router to the switch. Why is that?
