According to this MS article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314079&Product=winxp
Win XP is bootable by a floppy w/ NTLDR, BOOT.INI, and NTDETECT.COM.
If this is true, then why is it not mentioned in this article?:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;307545
I always thought that it took either 4 startup disks or the CD to boot XP.
What gives?

lazyart Member Posts: 483The 4 disk set you are thinking of, if i remember correctly, are setup disks, not startup... needed if you are installing windows onto a system that cannot boot from CD.I'm not a complete idiot... some parts are missing.

w^rl0rd Member Posts: 329I see. So, the only plus of using the 4 disks or CD would be to install, repair, or use the Recovery Console. This makes sense now.

lazyart Member Posts: 483You can install the Recovery Console by using winnt32.exe /cmdcons and have it available in the boot menu....I'm not a complete idiot... some parts are missing.
