Random spaces on printouts

qwertyiopqwertyiop Member Posts: 725 ■■■□□□□□□□
I have a HP 3500n and lately one of my users has heen getting random spaces when she prints documents on her printer. I checked the documents that she printed and none of them have the random spaces that show up when she prints it.

Does anybody have any idea what might be happening or how to solve this issue?

What kind o' documents? Only one application, or all of them? Only one font, or all of them? Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver?

They are MS Word documents. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the driver

Does she use the space bar to line text up?

Good question. I would also try changing the document on her computer to a font that is not proportionally spaced, and see what it looks like then.

I solved a similar printing problem recently.

    Good suggestion :)

No she hasn't been using the space bar to line up the text.

Here is an example of what would print out:
    Prepare T raffic Control
Field Edit of B ase Mapping
    Correspondenc e

Someone suggested that I try to install the laserjet 3600 driver. "This is a host based printer so the printing software is critical. I would reload the host based printing software for the user and see if that solves the issue. If that does not work, then download the printing software for the color laserjet 3600 and try it." Does anybody have any input on this?

can you try to copy the text to notepad and try to print from there?

can you try to upgrade the firmware for the printer?, we had many "rubbish" issues with hp 2420DN's which was resolved by upgrading firmware.

Sounds like a driver issue, try the latest. But wd40 could be right.

I upgraded the firmware today. I haven't noticed any changes but I told my company's receptionist to let me know if she notices the problem again.
