Like anything, that's just the default port. You can probably configure whatever you're using to use a port of your choosing.

Indeed, if you run a website on 8080 there is no need to open anything else either.

UNLESS : You have a redirect page which forwards every HTTP request to HTTPS, then you would need to open port 80 too, otherwise the redirect won't work.

Thanks alot for your help. I was asked this question before I left to work and I was sure I knew the answer but wanted to ask before I got into the office.

No you don't you only need port 443 open
