IGRP and EIGRP metric size

how many bits long is the metric for an IGRP and EIGRP?

i read in the Cisco press book that the max metric for an IGRP is 4 billion something...which would make it 32 bits long...and since EIGRP is 256 times IGRP it should making it 40 bits long, but i have found different answers else where so i was getting a little confused.

well, if you looking for how many bits in the metrics i dont know exactly - but if you want a simple answer : igrp and eigrp use bandwidth and delay as the default metric.
