Waking Vista computers via Scheduled Task

We've been enabling sleep on our Vista machines after being idle for two hours. I was tasked with figuring a solution to 'wake' them all when needed. Mostly for us when we come in early to do some configuring on our machines. I've came up with the solution of pushing a Scheduled task via GPO that runs a "cmd.exe /c exit" at like 6:30am. It wakes the computer fine. I called it good.
My counterpart told me it wasn't working. I checked the logs on one of the Vista machines that got it pushed, and it indeed went back to sleep shortly after waking up to initiate CMD and then close it. I'm guessing that the computer just wakes up to run CMD, and them promptly sleeps again as I guess waking doesn't restart the Idle countdown.
Any ideas my friends?

tiersten Member Posts: 4,505The solution offered here isn't great but it appears it is a known issue/bug. Vista will wake up and then sleep again after 2 minutes.

I did not try it, but I know that it works (depending on your hardware)
