Where is Database+?

There is A+, Net+, Security+, but with database field being a major one, I wonder why CompTIA has never come up with Database+?

How would one begin a neutral study of database?

Any generic SQL book is a great starting places. I think I used SQL in 24 Hours, but that was a long time ago.

Thats actually a very good question. The language is standard. The principles are all the same. There really should be a DB+ or SQL+.

That's a good question. I would definitely go for a cert that emphasized basic SQL knowledge, normalization, etc more than vendor-specific matters. Another good introductory database book is "Databases Demystified".

If you want a "Database+" try looking at the CIW Database Design Specialist. This will go over the basics of SQL, Normalization, Relational Algebra, etc.

Not sure why Comptia would throw money away, but I agree. A entry level database would be a good move. IN the mean time,

Yep, Comptia dropped ball on this one. I'm sure Comptia execs would be red-faced upon reading this thread and finding out they are oblivious to existence of Database management system :)
