Wordpress n00b - how to show full size images (*solved*)

I installed Wordpress the very first time and I am using the default theme at the moment. It appears that the middle column, where the text is, has a fixed size and posting images in full size looks horrible.
Is there some sort of way that, when posting thumbnails, that if someone clicks them they are actually being open fullsize in a different window or something like this ?
