Still having issues w/ Subnetting

I'm currently going through the 70-293 MSPress book and am on the subnetting chapter. I think it's confusing me more than helping. Here is the question I'm stuck on:
"For each of the following IP address assignments, specifiy the number of bits in the subnet identifier, the number of possible IP addresses in each subnet, the subnet mask for the IP addresses, and the IP address ranges for the first and last subnet."
1. 10.0.0.0/19
2. 192.168.214.0/29
3. 172.28.0.0/20
What do they mean by "subnet identifier"? I understand how to get the number of possible IP address and the subnet mask, but am confused on how to get the subnet identifier and the IP address ranges.
Thanks in advance!

I think when they say the number of bits in the subnet identifier, they're just looking for the bits that extend past the default network bits for the class. Like in that first example, you'd have 8 bits for the default class A network, so you'd be using 11 bits for the subnet portion. -
