Cant determine fault
Hi Guys
PLiz bear with me, will try to be clear so yall can help me
Was called round to see a PC "hp small form, micro ATX, AM2", in his house the PC would go throught the post then showing the vista progress bar, then the screen would go all white with thin black diagonal lines being wavy on the screen, kind of like when your tuning in your TV but its was not like snow it was more sharp than that, thats the best way i can explain it
Gets PC home and pluuging into my monitor i get nothing, lights on mobo, cpu fan spins, harddrive spins, lights on case, but no display
Had to completely remove the board to get my pci graphics card in and still no display
Seeing as i dont have another AM2 chip or Micro ATX board i cannot determine if this is a mobo fault or a cpu fault
Best guess I would say mobo?
Can i pliz have your opinion
Hope this is not too vague
Thanks
Lee

Lee H Member Posts: 1,135Been looking for a possible replacement mobo but am finding something mad
The socket AM2 has plastic housing around the socket which the heatsink connects to, but the heatsink on the one I have has 4 screws which screw directly into the mobo, can this plastic housing simply be screwed off and the heatsink be screwed into the same holes?
I have never built a AMD PC ever so this is all new to me
Link to pic of the socket
