QoS Concept Question

I have two networks separated by an MPLS cloud.

For QoS to work properly, would I need it configured on both ends?

ie: A voice packet is sent out from the remote end and marked with QoS. If the other router receives it and replies, but doesn't have QoS configured, would the whole purpose of QoS be defeated?

If there is congestion on the other end it would be an issue. But the purpose isn't defeated, IMO. If you prioritized the traffic out one side then you at least helped one that side.

Of course it would be better and make more sense on both sides though.

You will want to get with your provider also to ensure they are honoring your markings. If you are just paying for best effort they may just remark everything to 0 or just slap exp 0 on there and it won't have priority over their network.
