L3 Switch or Router

Hey..
Confused about something.
I don't have much experience with Cisco hardware (just GNS3 and Packet Tracer). Sorry if my question seems kinda dumb..
If a L3 switch is also a router, then why does Cisco make routers? Why not get a L3 switch which will function as a router AND a switch.
I look on the Cisco website and the different product lines, and not sure as to why a company would implement switches and routers when they could simply use a L3 switch which does both.
I know there must be something I am missing...
Cost factor?
