Ethernet

HI,

I don't know what has happened in my head but all of a sudden I am a bit confused. Am I right in thinking Ethernet is for Bus and Star topolgy only? I have also got the 10Base... muddled up.

10BaseT is Ethernet which means RJ45 which is 100 metre maximum but then Ethernet is also bus which means thinnet 185 metres!

Thanks for looking

10BaseT is one Ethernet standard and you have it correct. It is achieved via a Star topology. 10Base2 is another, which you have also correctly defined.

Check the technotes on Media and Topologies.

    :D

I'm glad I haven't muddled it all up. I think what was confusing me was seeing Pc's being advertised as 10/100 networking and then the topology on top!
I see you have gained the XP exam as well. I hope to do that after the A+. What was that like?

In depth. Permissions and security were big. Check the XP forum for my take on it.
