Learning NetBackup 6.0, Any tips/ideas ?

UnixGuyUnixGuy Mod Posts: 4,570 Mod
I have one Solaris attached, with a small tape drive attached.

I installed Symantec (Veritas!) NetBackup 6.0. I have zero experience with this software, and I'm going through the official documentation.

Any ideas/tips or good learning sites/docs ?

One of the guys that I used to work with used these they looked OK to me. However, I can't remember the version but I do remember that the video coverage was very good.

make sure you know your tpcommands.....

Id suggest in your vm.conf adding verbose logging and adding the debug directories in your volmgr folder

your hosts file will be one of the most powerful items that will make or break your right off the bat

hit me with pms if you have questions at a later date

whoow ! thanks for the tips...the problem is I don't get much exposure to this software...I get support calls every now and then, and usually other fellow handle them, because it's not my area yet, but I'm getting there.

I started with the GUI...pretty lame, but I have to !

Thanks man, looks like we have interests in common ;)
