Helpdesk email management software

Anybody out there have any simple email management software that you recommend. Here´s the thing, I don´t want the application to create a ticket when an email is received when an email is received in the helpdesk general mailbox. I just want it to track time received, what action was taken upon it (was it read, replied, forwarded) and maybe log who did what with the email.

I already use a ticketing system for my stuff, so I don´t want it to generate tickets as it would imply setting up and entirely new ticketing system. I´d just like to be able to see that.
