Job Market?

Hello!
I'm not sure if i'm supposed to ask this here, but I just figured since it's the general security cert. section.
But I was wondering, what seems to be the largest job market for security? I was thinking of picking up a reverse engineering book sometime after my MCSE,OSCP and perhaps get into security research as a profession(fuzzing, code review, exploit dev. )
Do you think there is a large market for that? As opposed to maybe, a penetration tester or a systems security analyst?

You need to thoroughly understand how computers "think," and you must learn to think in assembly language yourself (and it helps if you enjoy doing this). However, the market for reverse engineering skills is very, very small.
Exploit development does not require reverse engineering skills (although it is an excellent compliment), but specializing it dooms you to pretty much working only for either a DoD contractor, security research lab, or a criminal organization.
The need for network security people is much more broad in both salary and choices of locations to work. This is probably what you'd want to make your daytime job and work on the exploits on the side. -

Paul Boz Member Posts: 2,620 ■■■■■■■■□□As JD said, find a general security job then identify what you like. From there you can branch off with a specialization and you'll still have your general security experience to fall back on. A lot of people get into a general security job then start doing more in-depth research to get a name for themselves. That is a great path also.CCNP | CCIP | CCDP | CCNA, CCDA
CCNA Security | GSEC |GCFW | GCIH | GCIA
