Exchange or Open Source?

I've been having a debate about which way to go with this and was hoping for some opinions. All I've ever used is exchage (mostly 2003 but recently 2007 as well). While I don't hate exchange I don't love it either. I have tried some open source solutions in a lab (for configuration purposes) like sendmail, exim4, and postfix. Does anyone have a perference?

Depends on what you need it to do. For anything beyond simply sending and receiving email, Exchange always wins, hands down over sendmail, postfix, etc.
    IT guy since 12/00

Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
    Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands...

If you're wanting something more than an MTA that can compete with Exchange on a feature level you're going to want to look into Zimbra and Unison and CommuniGate. If you just need an MTA I would recommend postfix or exim. Stay away from sendmail, it's a headache.
