I was wondering if anyone knew of a good wireless sniffer and where I can get it from. My wireless AP at home picks up a another AP in my hood and I want to know what the MAC address is as well as the IP address so I can make an access-list for it to DENY. My wireless at home is secure with 128-bit encryption.
I am able to get on the unknown (linksys) AP signal and surf the web when I take the encryption off my laptop.
I wish I knew who or where this signal is coming from so I can tell them that their home network has no type of security in it and I am able to steal their signal.
Thanks!!!

Ten9t6 Member Posts: 691Netstumbler is good for finding the networks, SSID, and strength of wireless networks. To sniff them do a search for Airsnort, kismet, and win sniffer.....Kenny

Hehe its got 7600 hits, help bump it up
You have to be careful..There are lots of ways to let this person know he is wide open, but most involve intrusion. You may end up trying to help this guy and he accuse you of hacking or worse.
