Booking system software

There's a sports center I'm trying to help. They need a booking system where they can book/edit/cancel different time slots. I am looking to setup a software for them that would do this on my server and they can access it over the internet from multiple computers. Is there a good lightweight software that u recommend for this? Please let me know.

There is some open source booking systems . eg. one is joomla based . One i use i modified it to be airline booking/ reservation systems

If this system is hosted on the internet then they'll be in trouble when their internet connection goes down.

It's just an open source CMS like Drupal. I guess there are plug-ins/modules that can provide that functionality. You can also easily setup a server in-house if you were worried about the internet going out.
