VPN and Wireless

I tried a search on this Forum section for VPN and wireless security with no avail.
My question is this; if you have a host on an unsecured wireless network and the host is connected to the corporate network via VPN, is it still secure?
I.e.- at what point along a packets path is it secure on a VPN connection?
My logical guess would be from the host it would be encrypted, but I have not found very good documentation on this.
Thank you CCNA Wireless masters.
