Speed for Full Duplex
up2thetime
Hello there!
I am trying to run some labs here with my 2501s.
What speed is required for full duplex transmission? Is 10Mbps enough?
Reason I ask is because the E0 interface of my 2501 allows me to configure the duplex (duplex full or duplex half), but it will not let me configure a speed (such as speed 100)...
Also.. when i do
show interface e0
, it does not say "auto-duplex, auto-speed" like it does when I run the same command on a swtich...

The ports on a 2501 are 10Mbps only, hence why you can't set the speed. Duplex is separate and some devices support 10-Full (including that router).

speed and duplex are separate and indipendant things. half-duplex means that you can NOT send and receive at the same time. Full-duplex means that you CAN transmit and receive at the same time. Speed has nothing to do with that.
