802.11n approved!?
IEEE stamps "approved" on 802.11n Wi-Fi standard - Network World
Anyone else think it took them long enough? I was starting to think they would never do it.
What do you guys think will happen now? I remember reading that router and wifi card manufacturers will start releasing firmware updates when they did finalize the standard; and I also remember reading that you should hope whatever draft-n device you buy will be full compatible with whatever they settle on.
It seems like they eased the transfer rate down to 100-150mbs, that's a pretty big drop from the 300 or so they had before. It's also a bit more than the 80mbs that I've experienced with my Intel n and netgear router.

wastedtime Member Posts: 586 ■■■■□□□□□□Ya, it's about time but I don't think they eased the transfer rate down. I think they just put a minimum for the 802.11n standard at 100Mb. You should still see transfer rates maxing out over 200. (Depending on interference, signal strength, etc.)
