transcenders
technet is very useful for just about everything
the best thing that will help you is to look at the requirements for the exam, start right at the top and lab up each of them (or at least all you can!) referring to technet/google for anything you need more info on. -

is transcenders any good? how is the pdf guide they sell in here: http://www.transcender.com/product.aspx?product_id=Cert-70-270&dept_id=100520 -
docspawn Member Posts: 97 ■■□□□□□□□□I'd say the stickys are just as good as the pdf so save money. The 270 is a hard exam and no push over at all, transcender exam test is good however.
I think i found the XP exam cram book was a good read AFTER the CBT, Microsoft press and Test exams if still required.
Good luck

pml1 Member Posts: 147I used the MS Press book pretty much exclusively to prepare for this exam and passed first try. It is really dry, but it covered pretty much everything. I used the Sybex book a couple of times also, but it seemed to be repeating the MS Press book, so I didn't use it much at all.Excellence is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, skillful execution and the vision to see obstacles as opportunities.

pst: DAMN that MS book is 1400 pages :O -
pml1 Member Posts: 147I can't speak to the Exam Cram book because I've never read any of their material. I've read 2 MS Press books now, and my take on them is that they are extremely dull, yet thorough and, in my case, very effective.
If you're they type that needs a more engaging study material, you may want to look elsewhere, but the MS Press book worked great for me.
I'll also add this...I think I was able to get by on the 270 exam because I have lots of hands on experience with Windows XP. As I'm preparing for the server exams, I'm trying to use multiple sources. So...depending on how familiar you are with Windows XP already, you may or may not need to explore multiple materials before sitting for the exam.Excellence is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, skillful execution and the vision to see obstacles as opportunities. -

I ended up buying both when I did my 70-270.
Exam cram is a bit basic but an easy read and the other is thorough but like watching paint dry and very repetitive. (maybe that's the way we learn?) -
pml1 Member Posts: 147I'm studying for 70-290 now, and I'm using the Sybex guide for it because that's what I was provided with at work. I've heard the MS Press book for that exam is really good also, but I haven't tried it myself yet. I'll probably end up getting the MS Press book and CBT Nuggets before I sit for the exam. Mostly because I have much less hands-on experience with Server 2003 than I do with Windows XP.Excellence is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, skillful execution and the vision to see obstacles as opportunities.

I would say CBT nuggets, transcender and read the exam cram is the way to go. Ofcourse it all depends how well you know XP in first place.
This is what i did and i bought the Microsoft book too but thought long winded.

Psoasman Member Posts: 2,687 ■■■■■■■■■□I used the MS Press book, did the lab exercises, read technet articles, and some practice tests. Make a goal of reading 3 chapters a week and you'll be done in about a month.
