Hi all. I wanted to know if anyone has recently attended PC Age or AVTech in Edison NJ. I know the job market isn't too good these days. I wanted to know if either of these schools are worth the money to get training/certs? I've just went on an "interview" at IT Solutions Xchange in New York (42 Broadway 11th Floor) and read your posts about this so called training institute so I know not to waste my time there. Any insights will be appreciated. I have been doing help desk/desktop support for the past 3 years. Thank you for your time.

Not sure about PC Age or AVTech, but I can tell you that I just finished an 18 month course at Anthem/Chubb Institute for Network Security that was a total waste of time and money. A few years back I took a short MCDST course at Solar Tech in Hasbrouk Heights and that was a pretty solid course.

I've held various positions in NJ over the past 10 years (mostly in the Pharma Companies) and would definitely recommend taking a course for a specific cert...don't get yourself into a "generalized" program. Take a class for a specific area that you want to get involved in and then get certified.

These larger "schools" are more interested in graduation rates and keeping you enrolled than they are in teaching.
