What to expect/Should I bother?

I took (and passed) the CCNA exam about 3.5 years ago, and let the thing expire -- I don't have the routers and switches to play with anymore. I was wondering if I should go for CCNA recertification or go for CCDA?

Id do the ccna first then CCDA, as CCNA is the pre requirement for a lot of other cisco certs certs.

I like yourself did the CCNA a while back and let it expire, I recently took the CCDA. I used Sybex CCDA. This is a difficult exam, you really need to know your stuff!!!

if you let your CCNA expire, then take a CCNP or CCDA exam, does it renew your old ccna?

CCDA does not recertify even a current CCNA. Once your CCNA is expired you will have to take the CCNA exam again, even if you would pass a 642-xxx (i.e. CCNP) exam.

If you let your CCIE expire then you have 1 year to pass a test and you get your cert reinstated. The CCIE level certs are the only ones that let you do this.
