ccna security class 2 1/2 months long

My college just opened up a cisco security class, thats only 2 1/2 months long, its prereq is ccna 2 routers and routing basics, it doesn't require all 4 ccna classes, does this sound like a good time frame plus would it be best I just do all 4 first? I know for the certs you need a ccna before getting ccna:s but just curious.

Also since my preference is real gear cause imo packettracer kinda blows should I pick up a pix firewall?

The CCNA:Security is more "router centric" -- you can do it with a couple of routers (or Dynagen/GNS3) and a switch. You just need access to a supported IOS image with the proper feature set (probably at least the advsecurityk9) and at least version 12.4(6)T for the zone firewalls -- but 12.4(9)T or greater is even better.

Thanks for the reply,. how about a pix firewall, would that be something I should invest in at all or is that more of a ccsp thing?
btw How long did it take you to get all those certs? my god, lol wow, thankfully you don't have to retest all of them every 3 years ay?
