Do I need a cross over cable to connect the Ethernet reciver and computer NIC?
right now, I configure the rip network as techlab told,but when i connect the cable to my comuter NIC thereis no reaction, the ethernet reciver link on light is off.
what went wrong?

Yes, you need a crossover to connect a PC directly to the ethernet transceiver on the router.The sky is not the limit; The ground is!
