Passed!
Rounding out the week of successful Security+ attempts on TE, I passed with 810/900.
I used the following materials:
CompTIA Security+ 2008 (ILT/Axzo Press)
CompTIA Security+ Study Guide, 4th Edition (Sybex)
ExamForce CramMaster test prep w/ ExamCram study guides
TechExams.net
ProProfs.com
Be sure to have these down before attempting:
The differences and when to use protocol scanners and vulnerability scanners
The differences between TACACS and RADIUS
Advantages/drawbacks to virtualization
Which key to use (public or private) in a given situation, such as digitally signing an email
NIDS & HIDS (behavior/anomaly/signature)
When to use firewalls, VLANs, and proxy servers
When to use a symmetric or an asymmetric algorithm
I wasn't tested heavily on the following areas, but your experience may vary:
Kerberos
Network Ports
If I had to do anything different, I would have bought Darril's book and used that as a primary resource. I've only heard positive reviews about it and I like how he takes the time to answer questions on these tech forums.
Up next? I think I'm done with CompTIA (with the exception of beta tests), so I think I'll go down the Microsoft route.
Best of luck to everyone else attempting!
