loopback router id for ospf didnt take

I configured a single area ospf topology of 3 routers in packet tracer. On the DR, I configured a loopback0 of 1.1.1.1/32 and brought it up and up. When I ran sh ip pro, it showed the router id as one of the physical interfaces. I waited several minutes trying to figure it out. I decided to reload the router and when it came back up, the router id changed to loopback0. Is a reload required in the real world to change the router id or does packet tracer just suck? Thanks.

Actually the ospf process just needs to be reloaded before the new router-id would be used.....a simple "clear ip ospf process" should do the trick.

Funny thing. on the Cbtnuggets video serieson this. Clear didn't work on the 2500 series. But it did on the other platforms. So just watch out some combinations of IOS and 2500 series routers will need a reboot.
