My question is who does their DNS hosting and what was the way in? I bet it was something as simple as an un patched system.

According to network world Twitter uses: Dynect Platform - CDN Manager, GSLB, DNS anycast | dyn.com for their DNS hosting which is actually what got compromised. -

Nice! That's what I use for my dynamic DNS for home. So was it an unpatched sysem or did a Twitter admin have abc123 as the password for the web interface? We will probably never know... -
