Exchange Server 2000 – Decommissioning
I’m running through a few clean-up jobs in preparation for an upcoming 2000 DC to 2008 R2 DC migration. One of these tasks is removing an old install of Exchange 2000 (installed on a DC) which I upgraded about 18 months ago to Exchange 2003 on a separate box (which now stores all the mailboxes).
When going through the, what I thought would be fairly simple uninstall procedure, this error is thrown up:-
Microsoft Exchange 2000 Installation Wizard
The component "Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration Services" cannot be assigned the action "Remove" because:
- One or more users currently use a mailbox store on this server. These users must be moved to a mailbox store on a different server or be mail disabled before uninstalling this server.
I’ve tried everything shown here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924170
No users have their home exchange server set to this box and there are no mailboxes stored on the server.
Anyone have any ideas or come across this previously?
Thanks in advance and Happy New Year!
Regards,
Luke
